Chelated Ferrous 12% (Fe-EDTA)
Chelated Ferrous 12% is an advanced EDTA-chelated iron micronutrient fertilizer containing 12% iron in a fully water-soluble, highly bioavailable form. Formulated using Ethylene Diamine Tetra Acetic Acid (EDTA) as the chelating agent, it protects iron from becoming locked or unavailable in the soil — a problem that is especially severe in alkaline and calcareous soils where conventional iron sulphate fertilizers frequently fail to deliver results.
Why Plants Need Chelated Ferrous 12%
Iron is an essential micronutrient that plays a critical role in chlorophyll synthesis — the process that gives leaves their green colour and allows plants to convert sunlight into energy through photosynthesis. Without sufficient iron, the plant cannot produce adequate chlorophyll, and the characteristic symptom of iron deficiency appears: interveinal chlorosis, where the area between leaf veins turns yellow while the veins themselves remain green. This condition weakens the plant, slows growth, reduces flowering and fruiting, and significantly lowers crop yield and quality if left uncorrected.
How Chelated Ferrous 12% Works
The key advantage of Chelated Ferrous 12% over regular ferrous sulphate is the EDTA chelation — a process where the iron molecule is wrapped in a protective organic shell that prevents it from reacting with calcium, phosphorus, and other soil components that would otherwise lock it into unavailable forms. Chelated Ferrous 12% remains plant-available across a soil pH range of 4.0 to 8.0, ensuring reliable iron delivery even where other sources fail. Once absorbed, iron activates several important enzyme reactions inside the plant, stimulates and regulates growth processes, and helps build resistance against pests and diseases by strengthening the plant’s overall biological health.
Key Benefits of Chelated Ferrous 12%
- Corrects iron deficiency and interveinal chlorosis quickly
- Boosts chlorophyll production for greener, healthier leaves
- Increases photosynthesis efficiency and overall plant vigour
- EDTA chelation keeps iron plant-available across pH 4.0 to 8.0
- Effective even in alkaline, calcareous, and leached soils
- Induces resistance to pests and diseases
- Boosts growth rate, dry matter accumulation, and yield
When to Apply
- At First Signs of Chlorosis — apply as soon as interveinal yellowing appears on new leaves
- Vegetative Stage — for healthy green leaf development and strong plant growth
- Throughout the Season — repeat every 15 to 20 days on high-demand crops like grapes and citrus
Suitable Crops
Chelated Ferrous 12% is suitable for all crops including grapes, mango, papaya, pomegranate, guava, apple, citrus, banana, strawberry, watermelon, tomato, cucumber, chilli, okra, paddy, cotton, groundnut, roses, gerbera, carnation, and all other horticultural and floriculture crops — especially those grown on alkaline or calcareous soils prone to iron deficiency. For stronger root development and even faster correction of deficiency, many farmers also use it alongside Humic Acid 98% Flakes to improve soil health and nutrient availability in the root zone, and Fulvic Acid 80% to speed up iron absorption into plant cells.
Storage Instructions
Store Chelated Ferrous 12% in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the container tightly sealed after use and out of reach of children. Being hygroscopic in nature, seal the pack properly after every use to prevent moisture absorption and caking.
